If 2022 was a Guest….

Happy New Year, my lovely dahlias! (This greeting won’t ever get old xD) Today is the first day of the year and what better way to start than with a lovely post welcoming the year with fresh hopes! So, I decided to participate in this fantastic contest created by Srishti on her blog, and if you’re a creative-head like me, I recommend you to participate as well, even if you aren’t a blogger, because it’s a truly fun way to greet the year. Welcome 2022 🙂

Oh, hello Earth! I truly thank you for all the warm welcome I’m receiving. And I’m flattered by your hosting, considering that it’s my first time I’ve come to visit you. But, you see, I’ve heard alot of gossip from my fellow friends who have visited you before, 2021 and 2020. Oh! I tell you, I pity poor 2020. The deadly virus arrived when he had come to visit you and now the whole neighbourhood is accusing him of having brought Covid-19. Tell me, dear, what was his fault that the virus arrived when he came? You see, it has hurt him most deeply, and hence he does not wish to visit Earth again, so does 2021. Because she is absolutely disgusted by your actions, that’s what she told me! She is trying to console dear 2020, and they both wish never to come here again. I was curious, you know, hence I came.

Oh! You’re so generous to offer me “resolution” tea and snacks. But I’ll only have a few crisps and a sip. They told me about this too, I knew you’d be really kind, I told them that the neighbourhood is only mistaken by some evil mentality, but you’re all kind creatures! You want to know what more they said, don’t you? I will of course tell you everything because I do trust you, but you must promise me not to spread the word in the town, it’s confidential talk. They told me about how warmly they were escorted here when they first came, just as lovingly as I have been today. They also told me you’d offer all these ‘resolutions’, and they even advised me to politely refuse them. Why? I don’t know too, I asked them, but they only replied, “The earthlings know why.” Do you really? Please tell me if you do, I’d very much like to know the reason. Then, they said, during the initial visits, I’d be attended to in the most endearing manner. And then, I was told, that towards the final visits, I’d be hated, frowned upon, for actions or events that were intolerable to you, and events which were only in control of time and not us! Yet I will be blamed for everything that is already set by time to occur at a certain period.

I have much time to see if it really happens, and I pray that it doesn’t, for you do seem logical and smart to me. But I can only hope and wait for the future as you do. However, unlike you, I do not tend to blame others for my actions, be it good or bad. And I offer you the same advice: be good and responsible for whatever you do. Own your mistakes. Mould them into teachings, but do not put the blame on others.

Oh! I am much talkative, ain’t I? Forgive me and bear with my snobbish remarks. For I don’t have any malicious intent while speaking them, but only good and heartfelt wishes for my dear friends. No, no, I’ve filled my tummy full with your snacks, that is good enough. I’ll take your leave now, but I’ll keep visiting for sure. And do keep in mind my advise, as well as the promise you owe me.
